I grew up in Jack and Jill and loved it. My group still meets up time to time in our adult life.
But you have to be invited to by a member. Reaching out would look bad. My mother was invited by a fellow coworker she knew for years.
Hey there fellow Jack and Jill grad! I've moved away from my home area, but love the idea of a Jack and Jill reunion more than a high school reunion frankly.
OP, My mother was a founding member of our chapter, so it is a little bit different for us; but someone whom you know, regardless of their location, and is already a Jack and Jill member, could potentially reach out to the local chapter on your behalf.
Joining Jack and Jill isn't as easy as joing the Rotary Club. I would recommend you talk to your friend or to your local chapter president. Membership is by invitation and limited. Openings occur when a member's child graduates from high school, so there are usually a few openings each year. Emailing the chapter you wish to join would be a good way to introduce yourself and express your desire to be part of this organization.
Reaching out directly is a great first step, many chapters are welcoming to those who show genuine interest. You could also attend any public events or community activities they might host to meet moms informally. I think it's a great idea!!
