Does anyone have tips for biking in the suburbs where the threat of right hooks is so much higher because of drivers not being accustomed to cyclists and pedestrians?

I may have to commute to a suburb for work (bus, then bike) and I’d prefer to bike on the sidewalk, but I also assume the right hook threat at lights is going to be VERY bad. No bike lanes.

Any tips besides an obnoxious amount of high visibility gear and lights?

I just get paid in production company lunches

How do you try new bikes? A car you can jump in, move the seat and drive around. A bike needs a fit(something for another post), time and it’s impossible to ride all brands to see what “feels” best. Love my local bike shop, but they only sell Trek and are obviously biased.

I mostly only get to ride on weekends. If I'm lucky, during the week I'll get in some peloton. How do you get in leisure rides with work during the week?
