If I could afford it (or justify the cost), the benefits are obvious. It would keep me accountable to show up, and it would make sure that I am doing the right exercise the right way to achieve my fitness goals. The only variable is cost for me.
I go to one 3 days a week generally. Been doing it the last 2 years. If I don’t have a personal trainer I don’t hold myself accountable to working out.

Bark (August 2025 data) reports that the average cost in the U.S. is around $60/hour, with top-tier metro areas (e.g., NYC) seeing fees from $75 to $125 — average about $100 in those cities. That could really add up. I know most of what I need, and half the time work out in a home gym. A trainer would be awesome but I can’t justify that.
I have a trainer. My trainer keeps me accountable because I would not work out if it wasn’t for her. I pay $75 a session.

I have one but honestly, I don’t see the point. I’m canceling
A good trainer can help you to be more efficient in getting to your goals. It is like hiring a consultant. They should be worth the money based on the value they give you.
In my opinion, keeping you accountable is not enough, they should be an expert and helping you customize your efforts.
They are also great help in avoiding, working around/rehabing injury.
What cost range have you seen before that has dissuaded you out of curiosity? What would be an appealing cost range?
How did folks find the trainers they work with?
I had found mine on Facebook, fully remote. You can look for Eat Train Progress. Patrick does 1:1 as well as group training. (I had done group). Had weekly meetings with him.

I recommend YouTube videos for exercises you're uncertain about and discipline to keep yourself motivated. No one needs a personal trainer, you're just burning money.
Some people are willing to pay for accountability because they don’t have it. One size does not fit all
I appreciate everyone’s feedback and insight! It’s very helpful.
In full transparency, I’m a bootstrapped founder of an app that connects folks with personal trainers and fitness experiences. No membership required and there’s built-in video to support virtual sessions.
I’m not asking for anything but if you are interested in giving feedback on it, I’d appreciate it!
