I thought MBAs help get you the job at MMB but once you have it the bands tend to be standard MBA or no MBA and location agnostic too for the most part. Continued promos and performance earn top dollar. On the other end, B4 firms tend to have quite a bit higher pay for top10 mba hires (typically come in at SA) that levels out at the SM/D levels. It is not unheard of that a green MBA hire at B4 makes more than a 6/7yoe non MBA manager which is a flawed model IMO.

I agree with McKinsey & Company 1 above — once you’re in, nothing else really matters. The hard part is getting in. That said, you don’t need an MBA to earn top dollar — that’s the short answer.
