There's nothing wrong with exploring your options. Without more details it's hard to give direct advice. However, when I lateraled as an associate, I was pretty happy where I was, but was just generally curious about my market value.

It’s not a waste of time for us. Ultimately, not everyone we work with will make a move. We know that when we start working with you. That being said, it’s our job to help educate you about the market and help you make the best decision you can. I work for a national company with offices in every major legal market and would be happy to talk with you at your convenience.

How do find a recruiter in the legal field? Have been looking for a job for a year now and trying to transition into another practice area. Applied to more than 20 jobs and still no offers. I feel like I might need some help.
Also, I have no idea how these arrangements work. Do you pay the recruiter to look for the jobs or do you pay them when you get the job? Or does the employer pay them?

Next week I’m having my first lateral interview as a junior associate. I’m very nervous because the group with whom I’m interviewing works with life science/tech clients and the attorneys have strong science/tech backgrounds; and I do not. Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?
