That really does sound like a fun event! We seldom do anything unusual like that, and doing it in the summer probably wouldn't be a great idea. It seems like there's always people taking time off, so if we did get to have any fun a lot of people would miss it.

Yeah, summer can definitely be tricky with everyone’s vacation schedules. A lot of people actually showed up on the food truck day which made it pretty fun.
That sounds really fun! I used to work at a company that did a whole family event twice a year and it was always a blast. My current job would consider it a weakness to acknowledge that we are human 😂

Wow, that’s such a big shift. It’s crazy how different company cultures can be. Family events twice a year sounds amazing! I feel like acknowledging that we’re human actually makes people want to work harder.

One department does a baseball game. The problem is that not everyone can go because it can be a peak week for some of the groups of the department.

Yeah, that’s tough - events are great in theory, but timing can make them tricky. A baseball game sounds like a fun idea though. Do they try to rotate the timing or do something different for folks who can’t make it?
They do but honestly I find work social events really tricky to navigate!!

I totally get that! What do you find tricky about them - is it the small talk, balancing work relationships, or something else?

My work do quarterly socials. We all just went canoeing to the pub for lunch and then back a few weeks ago. We’ve done things like bowling, beach volleyball, go karting etc! They are always really fun days out and really brings the team together in a fun environment :)

That sounds awesome! I love when companies do fun stuff like that. Way better than just a regular happy hour. It’s cool how it helps everyone actually hang out and have a good time together.
