Early in my career I thought success meant saying yes to everything. After missing a close friend’s wedding for work, I realized I needed better boundaries, so now I treat personal time like any other important meeting, and I’m more effective because of it. How do you decide what’s non-negotiable in your own work-life balance?

I started getting horrible mouth sores from stress a few years ago, and that has kind of become my boundary determiner. If anything is making me so stressed my mouth starts hurting, it’s too much stress and I need to cut back

Oh god yeah when it becomes physical that’s a definite indicator to slow down

My personal life comes before my job. That’s the balance and that’s the boundary. I don’t miss family events, health appointments, vacations, or work when I’m sick and I don’t look at respond to teams chats or emails outside of work hours. No one has my cell phone number.

I am seeing a guy and having a hard time thinking about him in terms of long term relationship. One thing that bothers me is that he never showers after he comes back from the gym and I told him that I find it nasty. We currently live separately so I don't have to see him after he works out which is a good thing but I can easily see this being a problem in the future. Any tips? And NO I don't want to go to therapy lol

For those who want some lighter reading on Marx, I can recommend this. Each chapter starts with a standard anti-Marx argument and then gives the rebuttal. The left can sometimes be a bit “I can’t believe you disagree, I won’t even engage’ but this means we are often not well rehearsed to oppose the other side of the argument.
