If you get an interview make sure you’re personable. Look up interview questions online and practice. I hire tellers myself, I value communication skills over counting money. Obviously cash handling is great to see but I can teach you to count, I can’t teach you to build rapport with people. That’s invaluable. Make sure your resume reflects that.
What perhaps wasn’t clear in my comment was communication skills can set you apart from other applicants.

I think the economy isn't horrible, or great, but just "meh" right now. Job market and economy aren't always related. Job market definitely seems to be much worse than economy right now.
Sorry to hear that. Don't kick yourself, I'm sure most of what's happening is just bad timing. Organizations are timid about hiring. You're overqualified for some of the jobs you've mentioned, so that could get you turned down. Companies don't want to hire someone who will leave the second they find a job more suited to them. Broaden your search beyond banks and stay persistent.
I’ve been where you are … during the financial crisis. I had just earned my MBA and had a JD. My strategy became to get a job where I saw the most job listings. It was a low paying job in tax. But it helped me pivot to a solid career. I was turned down just like you. They see that you’re over qualified.
Keep going. I know it’s hard. It will change for the better. Try recruiting companies that have temp jobs. There’s a trick to that too. Feel free to message me and I’ll offer any advice I can.
Last time Agent Orange was in office no one could get a job either.
Sorry to hear this. Keep applying, message me direct if you want. I can give resume pointers
I appreciate it, I’ve been checking daily for new jobs. Most days I can’t find anything I haven’t already applied too. If you could recommend me other jobs types to look out for I’d appreciate it very much!

You’ll find something!
Just know this is happening to everyone and you’re not alone. Have you tried going to networking events, connecting with hr professionals and messaging on LinkedIn, I say keep going for the roles you are after, don’t settle, walmart etc. probs say no because you are over qualified and see you as a flight risk

Collections departments are hiring and they often have fully remote work. Check the big bank job boards. People are defaulting on car loans credit cards and mortgages like crazy.

Make a connection find a common ground smile! Use keywords and skills that are relevant for the job. Also when they ask you, ”where do you see yourself in five years?” simply reply, “sitting in your chair” because in five years the same person interviewing likely will have become promoted to regional manager or CEO!
Most Leaders like to gather their teams on their way up the ladder. So why not be an early applicant?
