Just to share the cheaper .. we tried .. the caliber of people .. meaning just getting them to show up consistently was so tough… I feel like sometimes in the summer you can find a college kid home from break who could be good but any other time probably tough at the lower rates .. we had to transition to day care just couldn’t keep trying to manage on random days.. even back up care didn’t help, had one woman who refused to take out her AirPods while watching a 10 month old .. we sent her home ( maybe I’m old school but I was paying for it)and again had to manage for the day
Sounds about right unfortunately. Cheaper if you use company benefit connections or find someone maybe with less certs on their own not with a company.
Boston starts 25-30 per hour. But these things are a hyper local supply demand equation. And yes you get what you pay for. Have you considered Au pair. That’s what we do and works well.
Yes this is full time pricing. Assuming two weeks paid vacation about 8paid holidays and a very t accessible location. Overtime over 40. Part time Nanny much harder to find and more expensive by the hour.
I’m not in Philly so take with a grain of salt but in NY suburbs, $30-35 is definitely accurate. When looking for full time nanny for just one child, I was getting quotes in that range. Career Nannys might even ask for more if you also want them to do housework of any kind. It’s wild and expensive out there! Good luck
Eek that’s discouraging
I’m an hour outside of DC and for two kids for full-time, guaranteed, on the books nannying, we were seeing between $22-$30/hr. I think it depends on where the suburb is - I’m in a commuter community but cost of living is still relatively low, so the nannying prices accommodate that.
In middle Connecticut they're asking that for hourly, and forget the housework 👀👀👀
We pay $30 in Sacramento for the same. Full time 2 year old and part time 4 year old. Agree, you get what you pay for.
