Female friend (also attorney) just confessed to me that she just ended an affair. This is the second affair that she’s told me about. When she told me about the first one, I didn’t say much, but this time, it really bothers me. Especially because we were planning to open a law practice together. I have doubts about her ethical values and the choices that she makes — am I a bad friend?

Not a bad friend but smart to be thinking about whether you want to commit to a (professional) partnership with this person…

I also wouldn’t want to have a partnership with someone who cheats. If they’ll cheat on their partner they’ll cheat on their partner

I wouldn’t do business with her at all. Looks like this friend is a habitual cheater. You are smart to rethink things. You have a lot to lose to involve yourself professionally.

If a good friend is someone who looks the other way when their friend repeatedly cheats on their spouse, then sure. But why be a good friend in that case? I’d rather be a bad friend, not an enabler.

This doesn’t sound like an affair to me. I understand if there was another situation where she was seeing someone outside her marriage without her husbands consent but here, it sounds like she didn’t need his consent and just didn’t want to hurt him. She should tell him so that he has all the information if they’re planning on getting back together emotionally/romantically. But it doesn’t seem to be a ding on her character in the usual sense

Not a bad friend. If they can treat their life partner that way, how can you trust them?

If they will cheat on their spouse, they will cheat (in some way) during your partnership. A real friend would tell her to stop cheating too.

I also had a friend who was a habitual and unremorseful cheater. She’s still cheating on her husband. She also told me secrets told to her in confidence by other friends. So it was all a pattern of thinking rules didn’t apply to her and she could do whatever she wanted.

If you regularly lie to the person you share a bed with a night, you cannot be trusted to tell the truth to anyone.

Don’t go into business with a serial cheater. If her wedding vows mean nothing, neither will your organizing documents.

A lot of people are saying that you shouldn’t be friends with this person because she’s a cheater. But that’s her choice and her business.

You’re right to think about whether or not she has the ethical and moral aptitude of someone you want to go into business with, but regardless of whether she’s cheating on her husband, that’s her business and frankly none of your concern.

Your concern is whether or not her values align with how you want to run your business. Unfortunately that’s not a decision you’re gonna be able to come to by asking strangers on the Internet their opinion.

These comments are helpful and ultimately where I landed on ending a friendship. I ended a friendship with a best friend because I believe she cheated on her husband with another man in our friend group. She is now married to the man she cheated on him with. I tried for six months after all of this went down to remain friends, but I could not get over it. I was googling "how to stay friends with someone that cheated on their husband" and it was 50/50 - be a good friend to her versus if she would do that to someone she made vows with, what wouldn't she do to you.

So a team of researchers did a study about profiles of those on Ashley Madison and apparently what they learned is that those who cheat on their spouse were also committing additional types of fraud including cheating at work, business affairs, etc. I don’t have the link to the actual study. I would not open this law practice and when it comes to people like this, sometimes it’s OK to walk away.

In Jan of this year I was hired on as a new mortgage loan originator. We renegotiated my salary in April to $55K. I recently learned that banks here in my area are hiring brand new, low experience LO’s for $70K. The market is slow but I’ve been very consistent in what I’m bringing in and closing. My supervisor has stated we will be doing my review and salary discussion to be effective 1/1/23. I was going to ask for $75K but I’ve been told I should ask for $80K-$85K. Thoughts? Advice?

Hi Fishes,
I am having 4.6 + years of experience as a Manual test engineer and already frustrated with it.
In these years, I haven't learn any technical skills.
Though , I am very good at handling clients, planning and at other required stuffs.
But all these are soft skills which doesn't directly contributed to my resume.

I need your suggestion that which technical skills I can learn online? Has anyone changed their career from testing to BI ( Power BI / Tableau ) ?

I had a phone screening with a recruiter (who is a TD Industries employee- not outside recruiter) I asked specifically when they were looking to hire on, he said a month give or take a few weeks. That was on September 9th. I sent a thank you followup email the next day with letters of recommendation like I had mentioned in our conversation. I sent a second follow up email asking if they had made any decisions on who will be asked for inperson interviews, he said....check comments plz 🙏
