Five years from now, I’d love to be in a position where I have more flexibility in my career and maybe even start my own business. Right now, I’m figuring out the steps to make that happen. What about you? What’s your 5-year plan, and what’s been your biggest challenge so far?

I hear you! My five-year goal is to move into leadership while also setting up multiple income streams so I’m not tied to just one paycheck. The hardest part so far? Finding time to work on my personal projects while still handling a full-time job.

At this point I feel like the only guaranteed way I will have flexibility is to work for myself. You can start today at a company that checks all the boxes in that regard, then a year later, or even less, who knows what policy they will walk back on. Right now I am trying to soak up all the information and knowledge I can so I will be able to make better moves in the future.

I currently make 78k at Lockheed but I’m not doing what I’d like to be doing and i felt stuck and after many conversations with my manager and no solution in sight, I started applying elsewhere. I just recently got an offer from a smaller AI company for 95k that I plan to accept. I’m happy to make the jump, I just don’t know how my manager/coworkers will react when I tell them I’m leaving.

Currently in Interview process with EPAM Systems in Canada for Performance analyst role ( Performance testing / engineering ) and also Test Automation role. I am new to Canada and have about 6 years experience in each field. What would be salary ranges offered? Other services companies in market are offering in 105 -120 range.
Also what can i expect in project interview and manager interview? Will it be highly technical? I cracked round #1 technical interview, it was easier than expected

Recent puppy owner of about a month. Seems i’m mentally scarred from her crying at night, so much so that my mind makes up sounds of her crying, which causes my sleep to be interrupted.

In reality, she doesnt cry at all at night now, and her crate is in the hallway…

How do i fix this?!

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?
