For an existing client, I negotiated a project fee rather than going W2, half up front, half upon completion, on a 30-day bid. At both milestones, the client repeatedly kicked-back my invoices for additional details to be added and re-reviewed, and essentially got away with turning what should have been a NET 7 payment plan into something closer to NET 45. They also had me work through the scheduled 2-week downtime between phases and are now waffling at paying any overages or overtime. FML.

Serious billing question - if during the course of the day, you first receive an email from Client A at say 11:10am and you read it, you then respond to it at 12:20pm. You get another email at 2pm from Client A and respond immediately. The next email comes in at 4pm, you read it and respond only at 4:30pm. None of the email responses take more than 3-5mins. You are working on matters for other clients at all other times during the day. How much are you billing for Client A?
