If you don't want to work with them, for whatever reason, just find a way to sidestep it. Tell them you can't provide the material and the contract has ended. In my cynical mind I would be wondering if they want the templates so they can have someone else essentially attempt to replicate your work, and I would assume that's something you really don't want to countenance.
Yes for sure that's probably it. Yea I created mockups of the assets but never built it out into printable files because it was never included in the first place. And definitely not something I'm looking to do, although it could have been a financial opportunity. Some people are simply just not worth it!
I suggest reminding them that it wasn't agreed upon that they woulnd have access to those templates and assets and those are your work product that you won't be providing. Or you can just not respond, you really don't have an obligation to respond in the first place.
ughhh. Yea I just HATE getting ghosted and they were blowing up my phone and email. So just out of courtesy I did respond and finally they did leave me alone thank god
I'd just say that creating the requested assets would require extra work you don't have time for and send them on their way. If you know someone capable of doing the work, you could always refer the client to them, but since you stated you have no desire to work with them again, I'm guessing they're the sort of client you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.

Would remind them that access to those files weren’t agreed upon in the original contract and that retrieving them now would require additional time that they would need to compensate you for. If you’re even willing to do all of that you decide if it’s worthwhile. Otherwise you can state flat out that you have a policy of not sharing working files period and that they aren’t client property but make sure your prior agreement says that.
Thank you so much. I went ahead and just told them that it wasn't agreed on in the contract and left it at that. Yes if this was an opportunity that I wanted I could have continued the contract but definitely was not worth the stress..
