The reddit post exemplifies the importance of CHOICE. The redditor didn't choose that for herself, but rationalized it over time because she was still able to lead, on the surface, a full life. What she is now regretting is less about the abortion itself but the fact that she didn't choose it for herself. Forced abortions are wrong, full stop. That doesn't mean no one should be able to choose abortion on their own, without the influence of an abusive partner or family members.
OP those things are not remotely related. Everyone knows medications can have side effects and generally medication abortions are unpleasant. Is it possible one woman had significantly more pain than average following a medication abortion? Yes. Just like someone might have a penicillin allergy and not know it until something really severe happens. Doesn’t mean that penicillin is a drug that should be banned.
For the OP who clearly isn't writing amicus briefs, can you explain what you think this reddit post has to do with constitutional law?
“The doctor hit me on the head and said I should have thought of my choice before hand.”
Of all of the things that happened, this definitely happened.
Now do an AI story about a unicorn going to Cancun.
Can you explain what you don’t understand about the Reddit post?
I understand the question fine. He’s asking people to explain what the Reddit poster meant. I’m asking what OP doesn’t understand that requires an explanation. Does he or she really want an explanation of what the Reddit poster is saying (which is fairly obvious if you read the Reddit post), or just trying to make some type of point here that isn’t changing anyone’s views on this issue?
On weekends, Fishbowl often gets troll political posts like this. They appear to be designed to drum up anger, and possibly drive a wedge between people. Be cautious about engaging.
Genocide 😂
Four items.
First, the Redditor quoted here regrets her abortion and was clearly coerced into it in the first place.
Second, the movement is pro-choice, not pro abortion. This means giving a woman's choice about having a baby. Not judging whether she is making the correct choice. Every circumstance is different.
Third, this is anecdotal. And I fail to see the wisdom of using one person's reported experience to restrict or erase a right for millions of people. This may argue for better safeguards around abortion, but those safeguards should be set up with safety in mind, not the agenda of a group that wants to stamp about abortion over all...
Fourth, shame on you for turning one person's experience into your argument against a strawman.
Looks like I pricked a sore spot, didn't I?
Capslocking about "abortion mills" does not help your argument. Neither does ranting excessively, nor your extended catalog of hominems.
As I and others have said on here, repeatedly, the cause is not to support abortion. The cause is to support a person's right to choose whether to have a child. And this right, in our view, ought not be encumbered by your opinion as a stranger (filtered through the state) or by people coercing a person into having a child, or terminating the pregnancy.
This is simple. Now, if you care about ensuring someone is not coerced into an abortion, why not work toward the goal of eradicating that coercion? A robust social-welfare safety net can go a long way toward helpin
I think this story is demonstrating how men don't have a choice, only the woman has the choice, theoretically of course

If she was coerced into having an abortion, that’s an abuse issue, not an abortion issue. Forced abortions are wrong, forced pregnancy is wrong. That’s why we’re pro-CHOICE.
I nearly lost my life bringing my (planned and wanted) child into the world - no amount of anecdotes will convince me that it’s ok to force someone through a pregnancy they don’t want.
Associate 3, not sure what you’re getting at? The choice to end a pregnancy. An abortion, medically, means an end to a pregnancy (fun fact, the medical terminology for a miscarriage is a spontaneous abortion). Placing forced pregnancy and forced abortion on the same plane makes perfect sense to me - in both cases a pregnant person is being stripped of their autonomy to make a decision about their body. And a pregnancy is the implantation and growth of a fertilized egg in the uterus.
I can comment with being annonymous, The point is YOU having a CHOICE, even in that scenario its not perfect!! in a Male dominated world Women need to be in control of their Person(Body) They were Young, while Young We lack Wisdom and Reasoning of future. So a mishap of decisions and regret set in. However, For a women abused sexually as a child or otherwise or a life threathening situation An abortion may be the best answer. Noone But a Doctor and Patient should be on the deciding factor.State is poking into areas that are very personal. The writer also stated that the CLINIC had no Counseling talk.. Very irresponsible on their behalf, Once again safeguards and accountability would be established for safe reason, and mitigate Coercion. But women Need their RIGHTS.
Do you even hear yourself. Your “rights” mindset completely ignores the rights of the other half of the equation and is no different from arguing that murder should be legalized across the board because in 5% of instances killings in the US are in self-defense. It’s brainless.
OP I am so sorry for the turmoil this decision caused you, especially if it was made under duress and coerced.
I also had an abortion about 12 years ago, and exited the waiting room almost laughing with excitement. At the time I concieved, both my bf at the time and I were unemployed and NOT interested in brining a child into that situation. I got a job as a law clerk about a year after that, and with years of 50+ hours a week, and hard work, made my way up the ladder to senior paralegal.
My current fiance and I are looking to start a family within a year of marriage, but this would not be a fiscal possibility had I not made a choice over a decade ago.
My point is MY CHOICE allowed me to have A CAREER that allowed me to support myself and have a productive career this past decade. My heart goes out to all the ladies out there who were scared or felt coerced into making a decision that was not right for them. Sending virtual love ❤️.
This should be a choice and an experience to be shared as they are NOT all alike and knowledge is power
Laughing with excitement? I’m confused.
I too feel the same way as it happened to me probably 40+ years ago. I was very young and so so scared. That day was the worst day of my life. The pain is something you don't forget. The loss is something you will never get over. I did move on and eventually married and had a child and now have grandchildren who hold my heart like nothing else they are beautiful, and I am blessed to have had a second chance. But I will never forget.
I simply read this as a sort of (rather irrelevant, if true, actually) horror story about obtaining an abortion where illegal. But Herak’s I didn’t read closely enough. But I am very much in the pro-choice camp, however. Probably, for some, for the wrong reasons, but definitely pro choice.
I think you should ask the writer of that post.
In New Zealand any woman of any age can consent to an abortion. Parliament considered changing this in respect of minors because there was some evidence that sexual predators and abusers were using the law to cover their tracks. Parliament decided to leave the law as it was. The other aspect is about informed consent. The patient should be told that an abortion can trigger a depressive episode and cause future miscarriages when a patient wants to get pregnant. The patient may still go ahead with the procedure, but at least she knows all the facts. A patient having a serious depressive episode like the Reddit one is not unheard of.

PGC1 - Choice to do what?
Literally no one skirted around any words. I hope this is a troll because it’s a really dumb argument. But if it isn’t a troll and you’re being serious…. 🙄.

I would first need to know what is meant by "in favor of abortion." Generally, one would either be in favor of allowing the pregnant woman or perhaps a girl the right to choose to get an abortion, or in favor of restricting the right to choose.
The right to choose to get an abortion? Replace the word “abortion” with what it actually means. Tell me what an abortion is.
