What do you mean by lack of accountability? I’ve had a share for 3.5 years with the same family and nanny. Our kids are now in preschool and we love our nanny so much we kept her for afternoon pickups, and added another family to help with costs. We found her via our neighbors, and we share with a family two doors down who had a baby two weeks before us. We host every other week, share a double stroller and had one kid in a pack and play and the other in their crib. Unless one family is the sole host you have to have double of a lot of things, especially if they’re very little (high chair, bouncer/swing/seat). Start by asking around for families who have an existing nanny and space for a share of you’re wary of starting from nothing.
I see. There’s definitely a lot of trust required. Get personal recommendations if you can. My nanny worked for my friends for 3 years, so it was an easy choice.
I’ve had a nanny share and used full-time daycare within the past two years. The cost was actually the same, so it’s more about what’s best for your family. I found the nanny share to be a bit more flexible but you are technically an employer so there is a lot to consider before hiring a nanny.
compared to daycares. My child is at a daycare now and I like it a lot, and but I’d love to cut cost!
