Listening to Matthew mcConaugheys book while preparing workpapers and returns is one of my favorite things I’ve experienced while working in tax. This dudes life is crazy. Y’all should read his book if you haven’t. So fun

Need career advice. Been an IT leader of SMB companies and balancing a few opportunities. One is totally outsourced Infrastructure and all product development with SaaS apps. Two is an IT MSP and consulting services head. Three is green fields data analytics and growth creation team. All jobs are at the VP or C suite level. Pay is all similar so thinking about future jobs. What would set me up best for a future as an IT executive leader, possibly being a CIO or CTO?

Started my job at a small firm two months ago and I feel like the partners are giving me better cases than they are to another associate who’s been at the firm for 5 years… I’m wondering when is a good time to ask for a performance review/pay discussion. I went from being at a nonprofit for 4 years ($58,750/yr) to an entry level associate ($75,000/yr) but I do feel like I can ask and deserve more. Thoughts?

Not a lot of big agencies post jobs there (atleast in my city) and the recruiters that do reach out have vague, often marketing-related, job offers.

Just got out of a 2 year relationship. I’m 31. I’m now seriously considering freezing my eggs since I do really want kids. What do you guys think about a career switch from accounting to data science? And if you decided to go for it, what have you done to prepare for it?

I "followed the herd" (according to my coworker) and got my first pfizer dose today via a special community vaccine clinic in my town (e.g. didn't have to lie). I feel like this is almost over. 👏

Got an offer in industry with great benefits for 90k base and 14% bonus firm countered at 98k base with an instant promo to senior con. For reference I currently make 78k. Is making the switch to industry worth it? Title is not a senior role, the compensation seems close and I really value work life balance. Firm has also said I’m welcome back anytime.

I was let go in August and it has been hard upgrading myself this time after this incident.
I do have a lot of freelance now but I needed a FT job for my stability.

Waiting for an offer and new company wants my partner and I to start ASAP. I’m off until the new year so can’t resign until then. What does your nanny do? What are reasonable responsibilities for a nanny? Can I ask her to cook for baby? Is it reasonable to expect her to come up with stimulating activities?
