Focus each resume to the postion you're applying to, works best. Use the same main footprint of the resume and up date key words towards the position if those words are not in the current one.
Wondering the same. Do you all recommend using AI to tailor resume to each job you’re applying to?
Absolutely!
I recently started running my resume through AI and seeing the suggestions it makes, and I have included some of the wording AI suggests into the resume I use.
I have a resume for internal job openings as well as external openings. The main difference is I use my work e-mail and work phone number for internal openings, and personal email and phone number for external job openings.
Other than that, I try to customize my resume for each job I am applying for. Many jobs I am currently looking for have similar qualifications, so not much needed to be changed in my resume.
Definitely use AI, it’s still a numbers game out there. But obviously you should review for accuracy. I made max 5 versions tailored to particular roles or industries and then I can choose one as the base, make minor quick edits and send off. Depending on how long it’s been since you’ve updated your resume, do that. But don’t spend more than 15 minutes applying to any one job.

Right now I have a resume for internal people managing, a resume for internal project management, a resume for external people managing, and a resume for external project management.

Having a Master resume with all my skills, roles on it, and having a different resume for different roles I want to focus on in my career (talent acquisition/recruiter)s in order. I made a whole playlist talking about resumes. Hope it helps.

Honestly, my internal and external resumes are totally different. Internal versions focus more on project specifics, process improvements, and relationships within the company. For external resumes, I highlight impact and industry keywords, making sure they're tailored to each job I apply to.
I keep two separate docs and swap in relevant details depending on if I’m pitching internally or somewhere new. Sometimes it's wild how much language has to change just to align with an ATS. For external apps, I usually run mine through ResumeJudge, Jobscan, or Resume Worded (depending on mood tbh), just to see how they score.
Out of curiosity, do you ever just submit the external one for internal jobs? Some hiring managers really want different info than external recruiters do, which caught me off guard once.
