My kid starts screaming in the room next to mine. Gets you up quick.

Not sure how old they are but my kids were like that as babies/toddlers. As they get older, they get lazy - prob my influence rubbing off on em lol
Since quarantine and wfh I’ve been waking up earlier /going to bed earlier and earlier. Like embarrassingly early (9:30-10pm).
I’m finding pre dawn hours and sunrise the best part of my day. I make coffee, go for a walk right at dawn, watch the sun come up. It’s turning into my favorite thing. And I was a real night owl before.
The key is really just going to bed earlier so you still get the solid sleep you need.

Nothing embarrassing about going to bed at 10. I’ve been doing that for years! In bed with a book at 9.30 and lights out at 10.

I force myself up. I know My anxiety baseline is lower with consistent sleep schedules and my ideal sleep clock is somewhere between 9/10pm-5/6am. Also as a reward I start off with a sparkling water and go on a 30 minute walk (even if it’s dark and cold), I know doing this sort of morning routine will set the stage for a happier day.
Also it’s nice starting work at 630/7 because I know most people won’t be on for 2-3 hours and I can be more productive and sign off earlier.
Michigan isn’t that bad (grew up in the UP). Just have to dress for the weather.

Drink some water before bed, the bladder gets me up in the morning even if I want to stay in bed

Knowing that morning is the only time I have to myself gets me springing out with a pep in my step every AM. Try adding something to look forward to into your morning routine - either tea, a tasty breakfast, hot shower, the morning news. Something you want to get out of bed to do.
Ok bad example 😂 Maybe stick to Sesame Street
Go to bed earlier, do things you want to do first thing in the morning. If you live with other people, the early morning is a great few hours of peace before the chaos of the day starts.
I have been getting up around 5am for almost a decade now and it's great. I work on MY OWN work first thing and give myself the freshest part of my day for my ideas before I go work for the man.
So for me the drive to work on my personal projects for a few hours every morning motivates me to get up because I enjoy it. Maybe finding something that makes you want to get up will help?

I like this. I'm in the process of starting up a side business of baking - maybe an hour or so reserved for that! Yeah - I'd like that !

Get a alarm clock that lights up. Turn the nightstand light on as soon as your alarm goes off the first time.
Set the thermostat to turn on before you wake up.
So now it's warm and bright and not as hard to get up.

Thank you, will look into the 'sunlight' alarm

It’s habit now. I even wake up at 5 am on the weekends. I get insanely bored laying there trying to go back to sleep so I just get up and get things done early so I can get work done without being distracted with laundry, dishes, etc.
I’ll also turn on a movie (typically a favorite that I’ve seen too many times) or something for background noise while I clean/do my morning routine to put me in the right frame of mind. Makes the day start a little happier.
And then there is Frank Friday. I’ll turn on some Frank Sinatra on a Friday while I clean and idk, it just puts me in an amazing mood. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but the same logic can be applied to any musical artist you like. I’ll occasionally turn on Cody Johnson or Ariana Grande (depending on my mood) while I clean. Kind of cathartic in a way.
Hot shower and coffee

I wish I had that strong of a mindset! 🤷🏻♀️

This will make me sound old but the effect is basically Doc waking up after being knocked out in Back To The Future 3

I have Alexa turn on the lights.
Kid hit me in the face at 5 am, plus caffeine
Glass of water before getting out of bed.
Develop a snoring habit and get a significant other. You’ll be jabbed awake at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
So this isn’t going too technical, but I just wake up; I chose a specific song for my alarm so that it makes me feel like wuss for not wanting to wake up.
I love sleeping and hate getting out of bed, especially now that it’s cooling off, but having this one self discipline starts my day off right.
Wake Up by Arcade Fire was mine for a hot minute.

Get to bed by 10:00-10:30, your body will adjust. I also use my cell phone as an alarm, when I go turn it off, I automatically start to check my phone for messages/news, then I just can’t sleep anymore and get up.
My biological clock wakes me up at 6am regardless of time of year or if it’s a weekend lol
Live in FL. Takes away cold as an excuse, and helps explain why I’m more active than when I lived up north.
I’m down in Houston, originally from Illinois, so the mild winters are GREAT. That in mind, it still gets down to the 30s-40s some nights/early mornings; this morning was a struggle! 😆
Just get up. Don’t even think about it. Don’t stay in bed for an extra 30 sec. I’m in bed by 9pm and asleep by 10pm. I wake up at 5:15
No eating after 8pm. No phone, laptop, music or TV past 9pm. In bed by 10. Reading is ok. If using a Kindle, do NOT use a backlight, it must be on e-ink mode only, use a reading light. Sleep by 11.
