39th and 8th is soooo touristy that it attracts a lot of petty crime. Your vicinity to Penn Station also attracts some odd characters and the homeless.
It’s not dangerous, but it’s be safer for that budget to live on the UES, Murray Hill or a little further up in Hells Kitchen. Youll more than likely just deal with a lot of vagrants and commuters from New Jersey day to day than youll ever have to deal with serious criminals.
Thank you for comment! I was just worried cause I built like a noodle and can’t fight but that doesn’t seem too bad, it seems as long as I am alert and try to take Ubers in non-peak hours I should be good
Relatively safe. But can also get really weird. You wouldn’t wanna go anywhere at off peak hours. Not much to do around there anyway. You can do better
Thanks for the comment!
So it’s very possible that I live in the building you’re talking about. Honestly- there are some crazies and homeless in the general vicinity but I’ve lived here for 3 years and never felt unsafe at any time of day. The area is super touristy and there is a mobile NYPD station on the corner of 39th and 8th. I don’t want to make it sound like an ideal area but proximity to work and 9th Ave/ Hudson yards coupled with the price makes it worth it for me.
😂 check out Glenwood management. They have two buildings in the direct vicinity.
