What are you trying to negotiate? At-will employment simply means that you can be fired for any reason and you have the freedom to leave your job for any reason. Each state has slightly different rules, but there’s no negotiating anything that’s covered by the law.
None of those things have anything to do with at-will employment. At-will employment is strictly related to your employer’s ability to terminate your employment for any reason. In an at-will employment relationship, your employer cannot fire you for reasons that are illegal under state & Federal law (such as reporting illegal activity or sexual harassment, your race, religion, gender, or age)...but they can let you go for any other reason or no reason at all.
I’ve had a couple of jobs for smaller startups that have severance clauses in the offer letter - essentially if they fire you for any reason other than cause (performance, bad behavior etc) then they agree to pay you x months/years compensation.
Had to use it in one org that acquired my company and then downsized - got me 6 months pay and benefits to cover my job hunt
BAH1 - conceded, I think the OP was looking for specific terms that might be negotiated that mitigate some of the potential impacts of an “at will” employment rather than redefining “at will” from an employment law perspective. Practical-and-tactical rather than academic and legal.
