I have worked with partners who sent me a paragraph-long email telling me when a certain provision doesn’t make sense and needs to be completely revised, forgetting it’s a provision they alone drafted a couple of weeks earlier.
Doesn’t mean the SC was wrong and the partner was right. I’ve learned not to take criticism too personally as long as it’s fair criticism. Makes you a better lawyer in the long run.
Because in my experience, past a certain point clients are not happy about paying for formatting when they want to be paying for substance. Especially if it’s not formatting that the client has requested, but rather internal “standards.” I’ve never yet had a client complain about a motion having improper indents and line spacing.
