I always think the best answer to a question like that might really be "I want to make money." It's honest, at least. To avoid being that blunt, perhaps say something about how you enjoy the process and it's part of your competitive nature. Mention that you enjoy the pitching and being able to relate to people and figuring out what they really want or need. Most of us have a version of that answer inside us, it's just a matter of putting it into words.
The worst thing they can say is no. And so what? You move on, eventually you forget about it and you end up on a different path to life. When you get this mindset in all your sales, you stay out of your head and you feel like a natural person and unscripted because you’ve given up the fear of rejection. The fear of rejection will kill your sales and end your career before it even begins. Kill it before it kills you. Life is too short to worry about “no”s. Keep knocking on doors until someone finally says yes.

Say, “Solving problems that actually help customers.” It sounds noble but still screams “I like winning.”
