Got a new job that is exactly what I was looking for, so I plan to stay for the next few years minimum. It’s 100% remote as well. At the same time, I’m trying to make a longer term plan of leaving the country, most likely moving to South Eastern Canada to be closer to family. Does anybody have any experience doing this? Like am I still legally allowed to work for that company, do I have to double my taxes, etc. For context, I’m a US citizen.

Congrats on the job! I’ve looked into this too. You can usually work remotely abroad, but it depends on your company’s policy. Taxes can get tricky—you might need to file in both countries, but there’s a US-Canada tax treaty to avoid double taxation (we'll see if that stays in place under the new administration). I'd definitely consult a tax pro and check with your employer before making any moves

The company now

Anywhere you go as an American citizen, you will have to pay taxes and if you want to renounce citizenship, you have to pay $2350 for that.

HELP! 30+ years of teaching Sped and I’m at a loss. 6th grade student in Middle School with Doose syndrome. Prior to MS, the elementary said he never caused problems. Since the 1st day, he is disruptive in class, refuses to work, and is disrespectful. He has a one-on-one para but she is in tears most days because of his behavior. Parents agreed with a behavior plan - he thinks it’s a game. Parents say he is not allowed to be this way at home.

There is lots of companies really taking a hit in the tech space. Is this something that people are nervous about? Many seem to still be having a hiring push but with the button falling (IMO this is still just start we have a long way to go to bottom out) will that halt and layoffs ensue? And if so, which depts do you think will get hit the hardest?

I had an interview yesterday for an AM position for a start up. The salary is 30k more than what I’m making now and it seems like the culture is much better than my current company. I prepped for days… I bombed it. The interviewer repeated two questions because I wasn’t answering them in a way they wanted. Can I just say that was a humbling experience🙃

I saw someone else do this, so imma give it a shot. Lately, I’ve been applying to iOS developer roles and I’m getting TONs of calls and callbacks from HR and recruiting managers, but then when my resume gets pushed to hiring managers they seem to often get peeved at how little years of experience I have with the title “iOS developer”…
which is fair, and to show my credibility I published my first app last week, but I’m still getting similar messages from recruiters this week. Idk what to do??
