Got an amazing job offer, but the commute would be brutal. Do I prioritize convenience or the exciting opportunity?

How’s the money?

smart

Some people find working on the commute beneficial. My old CD had an hour commute in the morning on the commuter train, and always came into the office fresh with amazing ideas just from that.

Me on the other hand, live 20 minutes from work off the subway, but there is no way I can work sardined in between 500 people.

In this market? Take it and be happy for it.

Yes!

For the exciting opportunity

Do you have to do the commute every day? I’m still at two days a week. I could tolerate a pretty long commute for those days no problem. Here’s the deal though. A bad gig is soul crushing so although the transportation is easier if you don’t love the work you’re doing the time you spent hating it is actually a lot more than the commute.

Can you listen to podcasts and catch up on calls to family? I miss that about my old commute.

Take the gig and find some good podcasts to listen to during the commute.

I'd take it if the offer is worth it. It's not easy to find a really good offer or even just an opportunity to get interviewed nowadays. I'd sign it willingly.

I drive 30 miles each way 5 days in the office.

Go get it! See where it takes you!

My contract is close to ending with a verbal offer on table to stay for 30k. I am looking for something more techanical in the engineering field that matched my abilities more. Is it worth the move even if I don't have anything lined up. Personally don't think I can handle job and applying all at same time due to increased anxiety.

I’ve been in tech sales for 20+ years. Have an opportunity to take a position at a tech company in Sales Enablement. Anyone have some insight into this type of role? Is it interesting, challenging, collaborative?
Thinking about coaching others in sales could be fun for me at this stage.
Would love some input as this is a new field unfamiliar with.

I’m struggling at the moment to gauge how much I should be getting paid in my position as i feel I’m heavily underpaid for the work I do, which includes managing digital marketing operations across 12+ countries, manage the studio/creatives plus lead on any campaigns and strategies, etc. I’m also remote UK-based although my company is international. So what do you feel a fair UK wage would be for the role? I love my job/team but the stress isn’t worth it for me atm. Thanks in advance!
