Yeah I took a 20% cut to leave big 4 for industry.
Big 4 pays more than industry nowadays, you’re probably making a lateral move at best when you exit big 4 now. But that doesn’t account for the change in hours and expectations. Not exaggerating, I went from working like 55 hrs a week on average at EY to like 15 hrs a week in my F500 industry role. For me the increase to my WLB is well worth the pay cut.

Imo the time to jump to FP&A is at the senior level, but the next best time is now. It will only get harder to make the switch if you keep moving up in audit.
If you're not "done" with PA yet, you could move over to FDD, but the work and volatility is pretty dogshit (get ready for weekly fire drills, databooks, EBITDA bridges, and constantly getting called "the accountants" by the client/target).
I would really try to push for more because a 20% drop is tough. Remember that whatever their range is, there's always room to go a bit higher. Also get them to throw in a sign on bonus to help lessen the blow. Good luck.
My thoughts are that a mgr is probably not making that much in audit and a 20% cut would be significant. I got a lot more going into FDD but it’s still a lot of work.
I honestly think the firm payroll is catching up with industry so you’ll prob be facing this issue a lot of the time.
It is crazy how low FPA roles pay though so I don’t think you’re getting screwed. Just my .02
Did you already try to negotiate it up?
