Has anyone else felt guilty for wanting to leave a job that looks ‘great’ from the outside but feels toxic on the inside? I enjoy the job and team, I’m paid well, but my management chain is not great. I don’t know if I’m just over reacting and expecting too much.

Yes, that’s a pretty normal feeling to have. Exploring other options is never a bad idea

You’re not overreacting. a job can look great on paper and still be wrong in practice. Enjoying the work and team doesn’t cancel out the impact of a misaligned management chain. That kind of friction drains energy quietly, which is why it’s so hard to explain or justify.

What helped me was using a career-fit assessment called Pigment to understand why certain leadership dynamics affected me more than others. It reframed the decision from guilt to sustainability. You don’t owe loyalty to a situation that slowly wears you down.

What would you do if you didn’t need money? I have a fair amount coming one day and don’t actually need to work to live a good life (middle / upper-middle class). I work because of this vague notion of “ambition” and because everyone I grew up around is highly competitive and hard driving. I just feel unhappy so often and am wondering what this is all leading to. Scared I’m wasting my life being unhappy / in turmoil cause it’s what my culture wants me to do.

I am in the middle of interviewing. What does a systems engineer do? I come from a software background so I’d be working in that realm of it and happened to come across this position and was considering applying.

I just got an offer at McKinsey and I was wondering if the base pay is the same across all first year BAs or if there is typically room for negotiation this early in the career. What other questions do I need to be asking?

Looking for feedback, I'm updating my resume and I'm wondering at what point should I start removing past work experience. I've heard anything older than 10 years should go?
