The easiest way to keep from spending the extra money is never seeing it hit your account. Update the amount you're automatically contributing to your savings and 401k to 90% of whatever the extra pay amounts to. Obviously if you need to buy a new car or bigger house, this isn't going to be feasible, but if you don't have one of those major purchases on the horizon, you should be able to tuck away the extra money without sacrificing your current lifestyle.

Makes sense. I’ve found that when my income goes up, my spending magically follows unless I get ahead of it. Redirecting most of that extra into savings or retirement before it hits my checking account helps me stay grounded. If I don’t see it, I don’t miss it.
Don't fall for this trap ladies! Been there, done that, and it never ends well (or at least for me it didn't). I got myself into so much debt upgrading my car, redecorating my home, etc... It's fun while it lasts, but when the bills start rolling in and you're suddenly living paycheck to paycheck again, it is stress city. Not fun! Set (and keep) budgets, ALWAYS!

Oof, I feel this so hard. It’s wild how easy it is to justify “just a little upgrade” when your paycheck grows, but those upgrades add up fast!
Did this and had an awful time trying to go back. I was just doing things because that’s what everybody else was doing. Occurred to me later on, didn’t want all those things. Prioritised what I wanted and have been a lot happier since.

Totally get this. I’ve been there too. It’s so easy to get swept up in what everyone else is doing and spend without really thinking. But once I took a step back and focused on what actually mattered to me, things changed.
