Meta technical solutions consultant interview prep - can someone let me know if they have gone through the technical rounds for Technical Solutions Consultant role? Can you share what to prepare for since it’s not a data science type of role so most likely not hard level MySQL questions. Any specific types of queries that I should learn? Thanks!

I’ve made the jump back and forth several times throughout my career. The reason for the jump was always different and usually aligned with where I was in life.
Why are you considering the jump? Do you dislike the type of work you’re doing now? Are you okay with taking less money or a lower title? Could your own side project scratch the creative itch you may be feeling? I would make sure you know the answer to all of these questions before spending one second reaching out to recruiters/connections or changing your portfolio to something that would even be desirable to a consumer agency.
I did.
It was painful at first because people like Creative 1 exist. It became less painful when I got a job working on a pharma account at a regular ad agency and proceeded to wipe my entire pharma experience from my resume/LinkedIn, presenting myself as a mid level instead. I took the title demotion and paycut to get out and don’t regret it.
It ultimately depends on if you just want a job (nothing wrong with this) or if you actually are passionate about making advertising. CD1 kind of hits on that because I will say the last CD I had in pharma was a well rounded guy who pushed when he could but knew the limitations of the work and was happy with his creative endeavors outside of work.
What I’d say is that I’ve heard my entire life that it’s “all the same shit” and to chase the money. But I’m glad I didn’t listen because for me, the most obnoxious situations that comes out of working on a fun brand beats the most mild inconvenience working on pharma. On the bright side, if I ever go freelance I can pick up pharma gigs for the money because I guess people don’t know how to do annotations and fact checks which is wild to me.
If you’re in pharma, you don’t have the talent to work in consumer. Also, pharma is the only sector spending money.
Exactly C1. Not only do I now enjoy the same, but I have my nights and weekends too, plus the time to work on real creative endeavors (not bs ad ones) that make me and only me, extra money. Not shareholders.
People with experience in pharma brands is always very needed tbh. I have jumped on and off pharma clients and always appreciate the come back to reality aka onto consumer clients. Consumer has less restrictions for content/creative/ social, clients tend to be more open to exploring and testing in consumer than in pharma. Pharma experience, in my personal opinion, has taught us how to create with super tight guardrails, that alone will be beneficial on any account you go to moving forward.
