Text you manager at odd hours in the evening asking for non-critical advise. Start with the temperature and duration needed to properly roast a chicken. Move on to the differences, pros, and cons of dental floss. Get creative with it. That's the business we're in, right?
You did the right thing. If you get yelled at, then you explain the whole work Life balance concept thing. Of course in a professional manner.
Smart decision. Once you start responding at odd hours, YOU set the precedent and expectations. Same with weekends: ignore until Monday. That's my motto - we all need balance.
Good job. (From your manager).
Yeah, I feel like all of this advice on ignoring texts and emails only applies if you are not a junior.
Also this one account person was so annoying. Texting me while I'm trying to get my kid fed in the morning. I had to sit him down and tell him to never text me outside of 9-5 again. If it was urgent call me. If not email outside those hours.
Your manager already saw this. Let's have a nice talk tomorrow morning
I started calling back after all non urgent texts at weird times. Cleared the problem right up.
Stop posting on this and get a life?
Good.
@designer 1, can you please elaborate?
I'd call him at 1am with non-urgent and non-critical questions about said update. Fuck that guy.
I do the same. But it's mostly responding to people who I like and generally respect and ignoring the people who are overbearing and who are bad at their job.
I say you did the right thing. At some point though it may pay to be more direct especially if asked.
