Yes — it’s usually a pattern, not a personality. The label just makes it easier to avoid addressing what’s actually happening.
Not anywhere I've worked. There've been some colleagues who couldn't ever seem eye to eye, but they kept it professional for the most part.

That’s how it should be.
All the time but its rarely just personality, its usually antagonistic people who undermine that is just brushed off as a personality clash. I've never had a personality clash because I will put all of my opinions and feelings aside for the company and for customers but when you have antagonistic people who still refuse to do their jobs, bosses then say, its personalities instead of someone who needs to be given consequences.

Yes, it is not helpful to not hold people accountable.
Put it this way I have worked with people who have gotten physical with me so this is proof that the thinking around "personalities" is not correct. However, with that said, if the company or team doesnt have a guiding principle, peoples chaos will show up instead. Always have a team goal in which to direct energy.

Sorry to hear that. I can’t imagine things escalating like this at a work site.
Companies or people that normalize disruptive behavior and describe conflicts or tension as "just personalities" are being dismissive of the fact there are issues. The importance for companies to promote civility in the workplace is important. It should be a priority.
