I have often seen that people who look busy are perceived more highly than people that are actually busy, I call it busy looking busy. I don’t agree with it but it makes sense, the ones walking quickly around the office with a pile of papers and a notebook are seen going from place to place even if they aren’t doing anything vs the ones buried at their desk are completely invisible. So get up and rush about periodically :)
