I just went to apply for a job and the application asked if I’ve ever worked in an audit capacity at KPMG because the company is our client. Has anyone ever encountered this before? Do companies exclude applicants that work at their audit firm from their candidate pool?

Thoughts on offshore firms?

I want to work for someone who inspires me. I know there’s friction around pressure to have side projects in this industry, but I tend to be most inspired by people who live and breathe creativity. Where should I be looking for my next, hopefully inspiring, job? Currently in Chicago.

Why do project managers get off on fire drills? Like literally laugh about it. I find it pretty f’d up since the creatives are the ones actually making the work and having to race to get it done. Also, in the case, the “fire drill” was their fault.

Anyone know why AlixPartners is the only firm that doesn’t seem to have any active job postings for M&A or restructuring, while all the other firms out there are hiring like crazy?

I have two referrals for a position that I’m trying to apply to, however only one of the employee referrals is showing “attached” to the application. I accepted both employee referrals and they both show under my google account, but for the specific job application (which hasn’t been submitted yet) that one referral just won’t show up!!

Anyone know why or a solution?

Random partner asked a litigation-related question to a partner I frequently work with (i’m a transactional associate). My partner cc’d me and said for me to briefly look. Asked the library. They got me a great case. Sent it back. Now the random partner is asking for more cases in another circuit.

I haven’t done caselaw research since 1L and this isn’t even my practice… wtf do I do (I am fully utilized in my normal work and have a few deals closing soon…)
