It's just your curriculum resources like any other resource types. Positives: vetted and designed by teachers, provides all print resources including slides to walk through process with a mix of group, independent and partner activities, and it is phenomenon and discovery based. The main negative is that it can be very overwhelming to dive into. I would assume your school has a plan to order supplies which a few companies will do for you as kits for each unit. I wish you luck and to be honest my district has somehow operates with zero curriculum plans or resources so be thankful.
My issue with Op Sci Ed as a neuro specialist is that it does not grade on any based criteria required for science based experimentation - which is really all grading is once it is broken down. A sampling of 4 questions as all testing for an entire term would be laughed out of any peer reviewed science journal. Science should follow science........kind of a criteria for teaching it.
What is that?
I don’t know what that is, but based on what you said, it doesn’t sound good.
I've heard good things about it. Can you adapt it to a more discovery based approach?
We like adding the Explore Learning Gizmos which are a variety of math and science related simulations. They are open-ended and flexible as far as grade level.
We use it at my middle school and my teachers love it.
