I guess they would be asking your personal email id, not necessarily gmail...they need that for emergency contact notification via email (everbridge)...besides they will feed that it payroll portal too, so that you can get ur payroll slips on ur personal I'd if needed.

Don’t share the password. That’s not the process in Hsbc or any other company.
Linking personal linkedin account with company is not mandatory and it is done after you join the company by yourself.

No way they ask for login credentials, just re check if it's just the email id

DONT SHARE THE CREDENTIALS at any cost. The HR must be mental or could be involved in some kind of fraud. In companies like HSBC this is clear violation of compliance. You can complain to ethic helpline once you join or even before joining also.
Why gmail credentials would be required.
Why the hell they need Gmail credentials? No one should be asking your personal email credentials. That’s a red flag
