Arlington has better living options closer to metro stations like Rosslyn, Clarendon, Ballston, and Pentagon City. Alexandria has stations in or near Old Town (Braddock Rd, King St) which are nice, and a few other locations, but some tend to be subpar (Huntington area). I would highly recommend prioritizing living near a metro station. Much better quality of life commuting via metro over car and you can be in DC quickly, barring any metro delays. It’s more expensive to live close to a station, but it is worth it, believe me.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!
The Roslyn-Ballston corridor is usually never more than a 15 minute Uber ride from Regan Washington National Airport. There are some nice buildings in that area at the budget you described
I wouldn’t let the McKinsey office commute have much influence on where you live. He will maybe go in twice a month. He can also expense any travel to the airport.
How old are you both? Do you care to be close to the office? Is there a price range?
We're, 30 and his biggest ask is to be able to get to an airport and metro station easily. I work 100% remote, so location doesn't mean much to me and we don't care for nightlife much outside of eating good food. Budget is roughly $3,000/month but we can go up.
For Alexandria, the Braddock Rd area will be your best bet. I just moved into the Platorm, which is a 5 minute walk to the metro and a stop away from DCA. The building also just opened this past August, so y’all would be some of the first residents. I’ve had a great experience there so far, but full disclosure, there is still some construction going on in other buildings on the property. If that doesn’t matter to you, it’s a great building. You’d only be a 20 min walk to Old Town and 15 min walk to Del Ray. Happy to answer any questions about the building.
I live in Alexandria at The Foundry. The metro is a 2min walk away, they’re building Wegmans and another apt building beside us and there are multiple restaurants in the area. I love it and they currently have 1 month free. If you do decide on The Foundry, let me know so I can give you my name. 😃
