Hi fellow WC, on this beautiful Friday I’d like to remind you all that no matter what “they” say—YOU my friends are part of a great area of law, where government saw a problem and sought to streamline the resolution. It may not be perfect, in fact it’s far from perfect. But a lot of workers and equally employers would be at the mercy of higher expenses and bigger losses. This is not a knock on PI— it is the way it is for a reason.
Also, we are in high demand= more $$$. Shh
Keep it a secret

I did have a point to this post— associate attorneys on the applicant side. Do any of you get a percentage for 5710 fees you collect? I’ve heard some applicant firms are starting to doing this— but I have no idea what the average or going rate is.
You can pm me so that our lost brothers and sisters (defense) don’t find out (hehe jk)

Not on 5710 fees that keeps the office running and staff paid. But earned fees from settlement collected usually 10 percent to 20 percent

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.

Hi- I’m an hourly AA, been on the role for 6 months now and it’s my first AA job. I did not get a raise when I took the job because it was technically a demotion ( I was a team leader at a contact center). I assist two VPs and now they want to add a third because they’re looking for the “ 3:1 ratio “. Should I ask for a raise? Is this normal? I know another AA that handles 3+ people but idk if she’s hourly or salary. Any thoughts?

Does it look bad in my resume to resign after less than a year at a job? writing here the time I’ve spent at each company since graduating college:

- went back to company 1 (it had grown exponentially after 2 years so came back at higher position) (resigned after 1 year to join a startup at director level)
- 6 months at startup and I want to quit with nothing lined up

Additional Posts in Work Comp California

Working and living in California doing workers comp defense but parents are offering to sell my wife and I a family house that is half price of anything on market in Connecticut. What are the chances of keeping the current job but jsit working remote in another state? Is there anyone who is licensed in California but works and lives in another state? Would it be easier to get licensed in New York/CT/NJ?

I'm getting really burnt out with the billing requirements at my Work Comp Insurance Defense firm.

We are required to bill 60 hours per week. I am curious what the billing requirement at other defense firms is and if this seems about normal or if it is high/low compared to other places.

I'm thinking about looking for other opportunities that are less demanding and allow for better work-life balance.
