Hi music teachers! How are you surviving? I’ve been teaching band and choir for a long time, but distance learning and Zoom has me stumped. I’m lucky to have a job, I realize. What are some things you’re doing in your virtual classrooms that your music students enjoy?

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

A female friend of mine recently received a settlement in a sexual harassment action against her employer during mediation. Curious - sometimes I see people online on Slack and offline for Chime, but then others are offline Slack and online Chime. How do I tell who’s actually online with their computer open?

I give massive kudos to all the parents out there juggling work and home life. But it’s starting to feel like I pulled the short stick by not having a kid. Really struggling to pick up all of the slack from all of the colleagues that do have kids and feel like the expectation is that parents should turn off while the rest are working from 7am - 2am everyday to make up for it.

Why the heck do Recruiters and Hiring managers do such a poor job keeping applicants informed to the status. I had my time wasted with an opportunity for a fortune 100 position for 3 1/2 months. Phone Screens, Zoom Interview with hiring manager, Face to face with hiring manager. (Then asked for professional references) , impromptu Zoom meet with other leader who was completely disengaged. Then boom... six weeks of silence vague texts from hiring manager they were still going thru the process..

Here in Brooklyn, the bishop closed all of the meetings in Catholic Churches. Not sure if that includes the rest of NY? Anyway, some groups have set Zoom meetings, a friend is hosting a small BB study

Anyone else finding it very difficult to get any enjoyment out of account management these days? Any coping tips? I feel like being an account person is especially difficult in the COVID era since so much of what we do is manage communications, ensure the team is set up well etc. None of this feels particularly fun alone staring into the void of Zoom all day ... but the same pressure is still there.
