Hi,
I might not be the best person to answer your question but being an IT grad sharing what looks correct to me.
Using Excel and Pivot Tables is not even first step of being a Data Analyst (forget Data Scientist), today every company and every domain wants a Data Analyst to wear multiple caps. From Data Engineering to ML algos they want you to know everything.
When making transition don’t follow the crowd follow your heart, if any tech stream really draws your interest then pursue it. Because in today’s fast pace corporate world everyday one needs to keep on adding one or the other thing into their tech-stack to be up to date. And you won’t be able to do that if you don’t like what you do.
When you do something that really fits you, then you’ll be able to stand out and show some creativity which is hard to match using AI then you won’t fear getting replaced.
Also, after some research if you think Data Analyst is the field for you then try going for Business Analyst, as BA you won’t be expected to have heavy tech knowledge and after working as BA you can easily change the trajectory of your career to Data Analyst.
At the end remember Mr. Sundar Pichai graduated in metallurgical engineering and now runs a tech giant.
So if your heart and mind tells you, that you can do it then just go ahead and give it a shot.
Hope this helps!!!
