I know there are some people from the UK in here, but most of us are in America and Canada I believe. I would definitely ask your questions in here though. There are lots of people that would be happy to help answer questions for you.

I’m looking to go into some government work. I’ve applied for a few jobs in the NHS, a couple in the police and a couple in prison. I believe I have some transferable skills from working in hospitality both front of house, working behind the bar and serving food etc to working on potwash, cleaning plates etc to cooking the food. I’ve even applied for some apprenticeships. However, I can’t seem to even get an interview with showing these skills and showing genuine interest in working in those jobs. What should I do?

Seeking advice: I am a young sales consultant and sales engineer working for a tech startup company. I have 6 years of sales experience. And I have been helping run my family business for the past 10 years. I was intially interviewed for a senior account executive position at a $70k offer. Instead they told me I needed more training and hired me as a Junior account executive at a $50k salary + commission. Today is my 6th month mark and I have done very well. And no talks of a promotion / raise..
