I don't really see those as things to balance, as there's only one I can control. I can go about things with urgency. But patience is out of my control in the sense that I can only deal with things as they happen. It has felt for the past few months that everything takes forever, and waiting to hear back from anyplace I apply requires patience. There's no strategy change I can make that will make people move faster on their end.

There's no balance, urgency is #1. I'm applying to everything I see posted. Changing my approach seems like a waste of time and effort when I don't know if it's even to blame for the lack of offers. I feel like that's more job market related, and being the case, the only way I see out of it is by upping my application volume as much as I can.

Journalism is the best job in the world but I feel like people are less likely to take my work seriously because I am female. So it's like they automatically think the only things I would be good at writing about are fluffy little human interest stories. I'm just a reporter like everyone else. Is there some way I can tell my supervisor that yes, I do like those stories, but I like being a serious reporter even more?

I am a Software Engineer in a product based company. I have total experience of 4 years. Relevant experience is same in C#, .NET, .NET APIs and Web Services, MVC, MS SQL Server, T-SQL, etc. I have been working in Agile model (Scrum) through tools like JIRA, Confluence. I also have experience in Batch Scripting for creating small-mid scale monitoring tools as I have experience in L3 Technical Support. Have used MS Office, ServiceNow, etc for reporting.
