I'm not going to lie, "incompetence machine" has me cracking up and may just be my new favorite term, but I am sorry you're struggling with this at the same time. Unfortunately, there's not a ton you can do when your ideas will likely go over their heads. I usually just say "OK" and continue doing things my way in those situations.

Yes. That’s hard. Unions are vital.
Have you tried setting some time alone with those responsible to express how they make you feel? Nothing wrong with a professional conversation that allows them to understand your point of view, and gives them the chance to explain themselves. Good old fashioned discussions are a great way to solve complicated problems like this.
