I don’t actually work for the IRS...but ok.

Hi Mentors, seek your advice. I have done civil engineering + Project Management. Currently I'm working with project management team as planning engineer in a real estate firm.
Now I am willing to switch into Consulting domain but not getting any leads, also daily I'm applying n numbers of company on LinkedIn, Naukri and Indeed but not a single light of hope I'm seeing.
Can anyone please guide me, how should I approach to a company. It'll be a great help indeed Jacobs CDM Smith JPM
Bless you PMs.

Oooh, I’ve been through that multiple times!
What I’ve learned/helped - don’t trust anyone, don’t say/email things that could be used against you; make yourself and the work you do visible, look for opportunities to make yourself seen so other people besides your bosses know about you; find “mentors” in other departments or teams or just start having chats with other people, ideally someone well above your level, the goal is not to get “mentorship” but again to be seen; record/write down every single little thing you did, so when the times come you have a cvs-receipt-length proof of your input, and be ready to present why you deserve promotion/raise when the time comes.
At the end of the day, no one knows what amazing work you do, you have to literally promote yourself in strategic ways especially if it’s a big company; also no one cares if you’re going to be promoted or have a raise, you have to think of that yourself in the first place. Your bosses might mean well, but they care about their jobs first.
You need to just approach every role with the understanding that it’s every man for himself and at end of the day the higher ups would lay you off without a second thought if would help the bottom line by a tenth of a percent.
C Suite kind of operate like strippers. If they made you think they love you during a lap dance, they’re doing their job, they don’t. They’re there for one reason and one reason only - to make money. And frankly, so are you.

But maybe like Anora they discover themselves in act 3?
The easiest way is to just never assume anyone is on your side. You don’t have to be mean or guarded just don’t trust anyone with your true feelings and don’t for a minute think anyone has your best interests at heart, because they don’t.
They appreciate you when you are useful to them. If it was yours or their life on the line, remember they will save themselves first ALWAYS!

actions > words, always. If they respect you, they’ll put their money where their mouth is. Until then, assume they don’t.
I’m in the same position. Realizing it’s all about making yourself look good, and that’s all they care about because it then makes them look good.
