How do you handle a coworker who constantly plays the victim to avoid accountability? Have you ever had success redirecting that dynamic?

How do you know she’s not the victim? You have no idea what’s going on in somebody else else’s life. People are coming to work every day with baggage You couldn’t even begin to comprehend. How about having some grace because someday you could be the one who needs it.

1. We all go through hard times. But when someone is constantly dealing with one significant tragedy after another, it may be a red flag.

2. People are highly perceptive. If it feels off or like someone isn't being truthful, there's a good chance there is a reason why the vibe feels off.

It also may just be their life. It’s actually none of your business if people are constantly dealing with tragedies. How have we gotten so far from the way God made us to be, with compassion for one another, where we are annoyed by other people’s tragedies and misfortune instead of feeling genuine compassion for them? You sound like a giant red flag. Who are these “ highly perceptive people” you are speaking about? I’m assuming you’re lumping yourself into that category and one could make the same argument that your vibe sounds way off because you’re judging your coworkers when you should be staying in your own lane, and rather than assuming people are lying about their misfortunes (weird flex, btw) if you are going to have an opinion about something that is absolutely none of your business try imagining how hard it must be to live in their shoes.

Wow! Take a chill pill....

OP asked a valid question and was looking for helpful insights. You immediately assumed that they were a jerk and not being sympathetic without knowing any facts or allowing them to explain what happened. I'm not saying that I'm more insightful than anyone else. But I also don't jump to conclusions. And sometimes, the person who is in the situation has a valid reason for feeling the way they do and it shouldn't immediately be dismissed.

It's all on them. Think of it this way do they go home with you? No. Are they a family member? No. I say ignore them and just watch what will happen if they keep up that behavior.

Very true! That might be the best way to go about it

Hi! I have recently accepted the offer from PwC India on workday portal - about 10 days ago - it shows no tasks to complete and 'step completed' against review and sign offer letter under completed tasks. The DoJ is July 4th week. I was told that HR would communicate with onbaording emails, BGV emails etc. When do those emails come in generally?

What kind of companies pay more than $200k base and what practice areas? Remote or Texas. I’m a new attorney between M&A and L&E, but I’m willing to switch practice areas for the best exit options in the future (4-5 yoe).

What are your thoughts on 100% remote opportunities for CD?

I am currently CD Director at a major consulting firm working 100% remote (Europe) but am planning to transition into a CD role at one of the large software companies (
Microsoft, Amazon, Autodesk, Ansys, Dassault Systemes, PTC, Siemens). I noticed that most CD teams are based out of a single city (generally HQ location).

Do you believe it's possible for those companies to hire remote talent worldwide? If not, why?

Could use some help designing a commission scheme, what would you sharks do in my situation??? I’d like to do some sort of group scheme, not an individual contributor scheme.

Situation:
just replaced a 35yr lifer and now boss tells me to create a business plan and comp scheme. Now there’s me and my trainee who’s rather green. It would be my responsibility to train him up. With 2 effective sales people last year we did ~7M @ 50% margin avg contract value of $25k (record setting year).

Does anyone work or run a satellite office? I’m in a role where our satellite office has no designated leadership that sits regularly with HQ decisions makers. It’s me and an ECD expected to run the day to day with no visibility into the network. We routinely get agency decisions rolling down to us without guidance on how to implement. I’ve never worked in a satellite office before, what are typical leadership structures and processes for a satellite to be successful?

Hey fellow Disney Lovers,

I generally have a few lessons in which I can use Pixar shorts to teach students how to identify and discuss literary signposts, how to identify and explain the development of theme, character traits, and other narrative elements. What are some of your favorite shorts? I am trying to incorporate activities where my students get to choose their own clips for independent practice with these skills and need a variety to draw from.
