It's okay to be a little bit nervous about going back. It's normal and a natural feeling. When I went off maternity leave and started a new position, I worried that everybody would be judging me or thinking less of me. But it's kind of like riding a bicycle; you figure it all out again pretty quickly.
Everything will come right back to you. I was off for 12 weeks for FMLA and was nervous about going back. But it all came right back to me and it was like I never left.

Going back after burnout is about pacing, not proving yourself. I rebuilt confidence by setting small wins early and reminding myself that recovery is part of professionalism, not a weakness.

I would start slower than feels necessary and rebuild confidence deliberately. Burnout does not disappear just because time passed. Psychological safety matters more than proving resilience.
