How do you handle seniors who are amazing at craft but absolutely terrible at communicating what they actually want? I just spent three days on a deck only for my senior designer to tell me to make it pop without giving a single specific note. I asked for clarification and they just told me to trust my gut, but then they hated the next version too.

Not sure if this has been asked before but what are your billable expectations, what year are you, and what size firm are you at?

I have been lurking on fishbowl for a bit and it seems that my billable expectations at my small firm are too high (1850). I don’t hit them but neither does anyone else including senior associates / partners. Anyways, my boss is using that as an excuse to not give me a raise - so any insight you could provide would be helpful!

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). How do I approach this with my boss as I’m not sure she’s aware I’m actually technically a junior? Revolving around asking for a move up + raise
