I mean, I get it. You can’t be promoted from Specialist to Manager based on performance alone. There has to be a role available. Creating a role between the two based on performance could help people who feel “stuck” in their role.
I do think it’s odd that there isn’t a (even slightly) higher salary band though…kind of diminishes the main advantage of promotion
I am under the impression the salary band is higher, but not by much. Many people who moved into the senior specialist role during this transitionary period were probably top performers who were already at the top of the specialist salary band and therefore the raise was marginal. People who are promoted to this level in the future will probably experience more of a jump.
