Mentorship means everything to me. Every career decision I made was based on advice from a mentor. Mentors can save you time, money, and a lot of headaches. Choose right and build rapport with mentors who are in the spot you would like to be one day, and they will be a blessing for you!

My best advice is to find someone with a lot more years of experience compared to you who is also doing something you’re interested in

Think of mentorship similar to working with doctors for your health. You might have one primary person but you could end up with a squad of different doctors for different times of your life.
Personally. Mine started with networking. (Coffee chats and networking meetings) Getting to know folks in in your org chart. And if you can, your field.
So, if you have an idea of what you want to be in 2-3 years or 5 years. You can start asking around in your current network to see if your network has a suggestion of who to meet and see if it’s a fit.

I think my issue is that I have no idea where I see myself in the future, even the near future! I think networking is a great idea though to meet similar people who can give advice

I had a mentor assigned to me with my first entry-level job. I got lucky with her. She took me under her wing and would have me shadow her frequently, showing me how things were done and why. I haven’t spoken with her since I left that company, but I will forever be grateful for her.
The best thing I think you could do to find a mentor is to get curious with anyone who has been in the field much longer than you. Older generations love to show the younger ones about their work life, and you can make some great connections that way.
