First job out of my masters in 2007
When I was in college (but my background is unique because I was in the military and worked full time while I was in college. I was 24 at the time I got the job)
Getting 6 figures is more in your job family / industry than years of experience. 10 years as a librarian in a major library may get you 100k vs consulting industry gets 100k straight out of undergrad
Keep Going, 4 yrs here, MCOL
5 years
Five years in consulting but that was my second job so seven total years after college.
2 years, finance
This is tough to compare bc in NYC and SF 6 figures is poverty level but in Iowa you’ll feel rich. Really matters what income percentile that puts you in for your home state
2 years
I hit 6 figures base salary after 4 years. My base is now 120 after 5 years and I am 27. You got this!
I reached 6 figures about 10 years in (worked in advertising where salaries are low). Took me another 8-9 years to reach over $200k in comp.
Age 24.
15 years in tech. I suspect it would have been a lot sooner if it weren’t for the gender pay gap.
