How long do you give a job that turns out to be completely different from what you signed up for? I took this job thinking I’d be managing strategy and content, but 80% of my day is spent doing personal errands for the owner and answering his phones. Whenever I try to bring up my actual job description, he tells me that at a startup, we all wear many hats.

My home office is NY but I live in NJ and I’m filing taxes in multiple states that I worked in this year. On my W2 federal wages are the same as NY state wages, how do I track down my New York w2 wages without access to my detailed timesheets? Can I just subtract my total wages from the state wages from my W2 of the other states I’ve worked in?

A bunch of acquaintances / friends of friends have been so kind with helping me think through next steps and even do interview prep. 1/ is it appropriate to send a small item? 2/ if so what are appropriate ideas outside a thank you note eg chocolates, gift card? Want to show genuine appreciation but also mindful to make sure it’s not overkill
