$130-150k - could be less if you don’t want/need to live in back bay / south end
Sounds right to me.
Asking out of curiousity more than anything… when I was in my college/post college years (2010s) having roommates and not eating out frequently was the norm. To do those things you had to be more than “comfortable”. Even friends who had good jobs after graduation and were making decent money had roommates. When did this definition of comfortable change and get elevated?
Same same.
175k-225k
Agreed. $200k minimum.
Minimum $500k but ideally $1m
While actively paying student loans I would say you would need about $350,000 in annual income
Cost of rent really depends on whether you need a parking spot, in-unit laundry, pet friendly, AC etc, rent will really vary. Assuming you can find a 1bed/1bad that meets your criteria for around $2,500/mo and you spend $800/mo on groceries, $350 on utilities, and $1,500 on going out, and another $600 for misc. you’d need an annual take-home pay of $70k. If you’re fully contributing to a 401K and saving beyond that you’ll likely need an income close to $160k (gross) or more to live this kind of a lifestyle. If you have a car payment or any other kind of loan payment, you’ll need even more to account for those debts.
So true
